ZEE5’s Short Film Khoj Narrates Journey of a Punjabi Bride From Abandonment to Redemption
Short film Khoj directed by Kajri Babbar stars Zara Khan in a pivotal role. The film shows the journey of a young teenage Punjabi bride, from being abandoned and betrayed to the pursuit of redemption.
Director Kajri Babbar said that many hard hitting practices still prevail in the country. After much research, the director found that this has increased considerably after Brexit and the decline in the British economy. Most of these girls are teenagers and their entire life is gambled with. Khoj is an initiative to throw light on such unacceptable and unspoken issues.
Zara Khan who essays the role of Gurpreet said that she believed in the film as a human being and not only as an actor. The actress also said that even if a little change can happen due to the film, she will be elated.
Khoj has premiered at the Cannes Film Festival 2018 and was also a semi-finalist at The Student Academy Awards 2018.
Premiering on Lohri, 13th January, the dual language film (Punjabi & English) has been shot in Punjab & UK.
