An Informative Menstrual Hygiene Camp For Kids Of Sex Workers

Abha Surgy Centre organized a Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Session for the children of the sex workers in Sonagachi.
This event was organized in association with the NGO Amra Padatik.
The session saw the presence of eminent guests like Dr. Bani Kumar Mitra, Founder and Chief Consultant, Abha Surgy Centre, and Dr. Konkon Das Mitra, Director and Chief Embryologist, Abha Surgy Centre. members of Amra Padatik and Lagnajita Chakraborty.
Through this initiative, they wanted to focus on raising awareness around menstrual health, personal hygiene, and basic understanding of gynaecological issues. Menstrual hygiene is one of the most commonly overlooked aspects with regard to the health of women. This is more true for marginalised areas. Programs of this kind will help in educating and empowering young girls. They will be more confident, have a better understanding of their bodies, and make informed choices that will greatly benefit them.

Abha Surgy Centre distributed hygiene kits to over 100 participants. Each kid also received essential sanitary supplies and educational materials.
Lagnajita Chakraborty’s soulful songs added warmth to the session.
Abha Surgy Centre has plans to conduct similar menstrual hygiene awareness sessions across different places, like schools. This will help in continuing their mission of promoting good health, dignity, and empowerment at the grassroots level for community well-being.
