Leading telecom provider Vi is expanding its 5G network throughout several West Bengal cities after launching it in Kolkata and Siliguri last year. Vi 5G is currently accessible in Malda, Haldia, and Berhampur as part of its planned rollout; by June, it will be available in Durgapur, Asansol, Habra-Ashoknagar, Burdwan, Kharagpur, Gangtok, and Darjeeling.

Vi has been giving priority to important markets, such as industrial hubs, high data consumption centers, and developing urban clusters, in order to expand its 5G services. Vi’s strategic approach to covering major industrial centers like Durgapur and Asansol, port and commercial hubs like Haldia, and significant regional and tourism-driven markets like Darjeeling and Gangtok—all of which are experiencing rising data demand—is reflected in the planned rollout across these ten cities.

Vi hopes to improve connectivity throughout West Bengal with this expansion in order to meet the growing demand for high-speed data services. Vi is implementing the 5G infrastructure necessary for extensive digital transformation and long-term growth in these high-potential markets by focusing on a deliberate combination of commercial and industrial hubs as well as tourist hotspots.

Sovan Mukherjee, Business Head –Kolkata, Rest Of Bengal, Assam and North-East, Vodafone Idea, said, “As we increase our presence in important markets in the area, we are quickening the spread of Vi’s 5G network throughout West Bengal. Our rollouts in Malda, Haldia, and Behrampur, followed by Durgapur, Asansol, Habra-Ashoknagar, Burdwan, Kharagpur, Gangtok, and Darjeeling, represent significant milestones in our journey after our earlier launches in Kolkata and Siliguri. To provide our users with a consistent and improved network experience, our expansion is driven by a clear focus on prioritizing high-demand locations that span high data consumption centers as well as areas with significant foot traffic, such as commercial, industrial, and tourism hubs”.
