Late director Anik Dutta’s film Aparajito was not allowed to be released at Nandan. However, in a great twist of fate, his film was re-released in Nandan after his sudden demise.

The gathering served as both a celebration of the film’s return to the big screen and a heartfelt tribute to the visionary filmmaker, Anik Dutta.

​The decision to re-release Aparajito underscores the film’s enduring relevance. Rudranil Ghosh said, “Our CM said to take care of all the proceedings after the untimely death of Anik Dutta. He asked to take ample care so that due respect can be paid to the late filmmaker. The re-release of this film is also a way to pay tribute to his craft”.

Rupa Ganguly said that she had known the late director for a long time. She had never hoped that his film would be shown at Nandan after his death only. That was indeed a tragedy.

Jeetu Kamal hoped that the newly formed government in Bengal would ensure that the eligible works of directors would be shown at Nandan. The criteria should be the quality of their works and not be dependent on the number of sources that they have or on which political party they support.
