Pianist Avik Ganguly’s Instrumental Album My Black and White Affair Out Now

My Black and White Affair is the fifth independent instrumental album by Avik Ganguly, a pianist and composer from Kolkata. The eight-track album, which was just released, marks a significant new creative phase for the talented instrumentalist from Kolkata.
My Black and White Affair gives each composition its own narrative and emotional identity by fusing cinematic musical storytelling with genre-crossing arrangements. Ganguly’s relationship with the piano serves as the foundation for the album, which goes beyond traditional solo-piano writing to encompass a wider range of instruments.
As a keyboardist with The ARC Project, Ganguly is well-known to audiences for his dynamic stage presence and numerous live setups. When he was accepted into Fever’s Candlelight Concerts in 2025, his career as a solo concert pianist took a new turn. After that, he started performing solo piano concerts at small venues all over Kolkata as a regular Candlelight pianist.
My Black and White Affair is informed by the same artistic independence. The album traverses an exceptionally wide range of styles, anchored by Ganguly’s trademark piano playing. His compositional style has always revolved around grand orchestral soundscapes, which coexist with synth-pop textures, funk-inspired grooves, and tranquil devotional themes. The album’s emphasis on narrative keeps it cohesive despite these changes in tone and genre.
Ganguly worked with session musicians Surjo Bhattacharjee on guitars, Aniket Dutta on drums, and Soumyajyoti Ghosh on flute to give the album’s layered arrangements their full musical character. The eight tracks were mixed and mastered by Sanjay Ghosh of Studio Resonance. Abesh Ganguly is a co-composer of the album’s opening track.
Ganguly is getting ready to start an ambitious live project called Tunes and Stories by Avik Ganguly after the album’s release. The carefully planned solo concert series, which is anticipated to make its debut in Kolkata in the upcoming months, will combine his unique cinematic compositions with intricate piano arrangements of established standards.
Ganguly presents the narratives and personal inspirations associated with each performance in the program, which is structured as an immersive musical journey. English pop standards, Bollywood music, and Western classical repertoire will all be incorporated into piano-led interpretations of original themes.

Tunes and Stories puts storytelling at the center of the experience rather than treating it as an add-on to the concert. In order to give audiences a better understanding of Ganguly’s approach to music as a composer and performer, each composition or arrangement will be introduced through the idea, memory, or emotion behind it.
Ganguly continues to perform at private celebrations, instrumental-piano nights, corporate events, and curated musical evenings in addition to his upcoming concert production. His work as a corporate pianist and wedding pianist has also made him a sought-after performer for events with high-end brands and specially created musical experiences.
According to Ganguly, these various performance domains are still linked by a simple goal.
Avik Ganguly is advancing his career as a Kolkata pianist, instrumental composer, and live storyteller with My Black and White Affair and the upcoming Tunes and Stories concert series.
