A grand pan-India biopic is officially underway, chronicling the life of the legendary singer and Bharat Ratna, M.S. Subbulakshmi. Visionary producers Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh, and Bunny Vas are backing the project, with acclaimed director Gowtam Tinnanuri at the helm. National favorite Rashmika Mandanna will step into the iconic role of the divine songstress, while music sensation Anirudh Ravichander will craft the film’s much-anticipated soundtrack.

The prestigious biopic was grandly launched at Chennai’s iconic Music Academy on the occasion of M.S. Subbulakshmi’s 110th birth anniversary. Cinematic legend Kamal Haasan graced the event to officially launch the project and sound the ceremonial clap for the opening shot featuring Rashmika Mandanna. The star-studded gathering welcomed members of the legendary singer’s family, esteemed Carnatic musicians, and prominent figures from the film fraternity.

Expressing deep gratitude for the milestone opportunity, Rashmika Mandanna paid her heartfelt respects on the occasion of M.S. Subbulakshmi’s 110th birth anniversary, sharing that stepping onto the stage felt like entering a divine presence. She said, “I am immensely proud and honored to be a small part of M.S. Amma’s extraordinary life journey. With her blessings guiding us, I promise to dedicate myself entirely to this role and portray her in a way that everyone will cherish and appreciate”.

Describing M.S. Subbulakshmi as the musical empress who united India through her voice, Kamal Haasan noted how she effortlessly elevated the beauty of every language she sang in, from Sanskrit and Hindi to Tamil, Telugu, and Kannada. He shared that her timeless compositions like Suprabhatam and Rangapura Vihara have been a lifelong source of peace and inspiration for him, recalling that even Mahatma Gandhi was an ardent admirer. Congratulating producers Allu Aravind, Rockline Venkatesh, and Bunny Vas on this special project, he added, “M.S. Amma was an iconic woman who inspired confidence in women across the country. I wish the entire team the very best in bringing her extraordinary legacy to every generation”.

The launch event was also attended by actress Suhasini, actor Sivakumar, director Mahendran, actor-director Samuthirakani, producers Kalaipuli S. Thanu, Rajendran, Katragadda Prasad, M.S. Subbulakshmi’s grandson Chandrasekhar and his wife Mala, along with several distinguished guests from the worlds of cinema and classical music.
