A restaurant serving authentic Bengali cuisine along with Chinese cuisine titled Bongnese was launched in Kolkata.

The launch took place in the presence of actor Arijit Dutta, Mr Sumit Vidhan, Director, Dewan facilities and Executive Chef Mr Debojit Bhadra.

As the name suggests, it is a mix of two words namely Bong which is a colloquial term for Bengalis and Chinese. This is the first restaurant from the same house as The Aananda Imperial, Bilaspur.

The restaurant has eighty seats. Elements of both Bengal and China have been incorporated in the decor. The colours, furniture design, props and lights all hint at the confluence of the two cultures.

A wall has a painting depicting the busy streets of Kolkata and Beijing.

Authentic Bengali dishes from East and West Bengal all feature in the menu. Some of the dishes include Narkel koromchar soup, Sutki, Goalondo steamer curry, Dhakai bhuna morog, Paneer kalia and others.

A few Chinese dishes are also included in the menu as well.

Located at Salt Lake FE 8, Sector 3, Kolkata, the restaurant will be operating from 12 noon to 10.30 pm.

The cost for two will be Rs 1000 plus GST.
