Now that all the Pujas in Kolkata is over, the people of Kolkata have now something else to cheer about. Yes it is that time of the year when cakes are in demand. With Christmas just around the corner, many reputed hotels of the city are engaging in cake mixing activities.

Holiday Inn Kolkata Airport engaged in such an activity recently. A group of senior citizens from Godhuli Senior Citizens Home and members of the Bengali band Cactus graced the occasion.

Cake mixing marks the beginning of the festive season and has been believed to bring good luck, prosperity and joy in the lives of individuals.

Nuts, raisins, almonds, figs, prunes, spices and other ingredients were mixed with fruit juices and flavoured syrups to make the mix.

After the mixing was over, the mixture was put in airtight containers and left for seasoning until Christmas. Then it will be blended with the cake batter and made into delicious Christmas cakes!!
