March 15th is celebrated as World Sleep Day. To address the global epidemic of sleep disorders, CMRI announced the opening of its innovative sleep laboratory, which is a major milestone. This aligns with the “Sleep Equity for Global Health” theme for 2024.

The issue draws attention to the disparities in sleep quality among global populations, which might result in further burdens and health disparities.CMRI’s cutting-edge facility, which is committed to encouraging healthy sleep for good health, intends to transform the identification and management of sleep disorders, especially Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) and Sleep Disordered Breathing (SDB), in the Indian population. In addition to negatively impacting people’s productivity and quality of life, these illnesses place a heavy financial burden on society.

Dr. Raja Dhar, HOD, Department of Pulmonology, CMRI emphasized, “Even though sleep disorders such as OSA (Obstructive Sleep Apnea) pose a significant risk for metabolic and cardiovascular diseases, they are still not widely acknowledged in our society. When ignored, snoring may indicate underlying sleep apnea, which, if unchecked, can have major health effects”.
