The documentary film Eco Friendly Gangasagar Mela directed by Shila Dutta was screened at 26th KIFF. A press conference was organized that was attended by the director and anchored by Sudeshna Roy.

The documentary shows the efforts that the government of West Bengal took to prevent plastic pollution and save the environment from hazards after the Gangasagar Mela is over. The efforts of the government were applauded by the director who mentioned that the efforts indeed saved the place from getting more polluted after the fair.

Plastic was completely banned in the area and environment-friendly bags were given to the shop owners in the area so that they could use them for free. There were some shopkeepers who still were using plastic bags and that has been recorded in the documentary.

The documentary maker highlighted the fact that she wanted to continue making documentaries and she did not want to make feature films. Documentaries were her forte and she loved making them.

The documentary is of 28 minutes duration.
