Emami Agrotech Limited (EAL), the branded foods business of the Emami Group, has announced its strategic entry into India’s rapidly expanding packaged snacking category through the launch of WeMe, a digital-first snacking brand designed for the evolving lifestyles and habits of modern Indian consumers. This move marks a significant step in Emami Agrotech’s strategy to diversify beyond edible oils under its Emami Healthy & Tasty portfolio, creating a dedicated platform for branded snacking.
To build a future-ready snacking business, the company plans to invest approximately Rs 750 crore. Emami Agrotech expects WeMe to generate around Rs 1,000 crore in revenue within the next 5 to 7 years. Furthermore, this venture is projected to create approximately 4,000 direct and indirect employment opportunities in sales and other support services.

The Indian snacking market presents vast opportunities, characterized by the following dynamics:
Market Size: Valued as a multi-thousand-crore market in 2025, it is projected to surpass Rs 1.03 Lakh Cr by 2034, growing at a robust ~8.3% CAGR.
Category Leadership: Traditional snacks lead the category, contributing nearly 42% of total snack sales.
All-Day Snacking: Consumers are increasingly replacing three large meals with multiple snacking occasions across work, travel, entertainment, and daily routines.
Gen Z & Millennial Influence: Younger demographics are seeking snacks that blend convenience, indulgence, quality, and authenticity.

Built on the philosophy Togetherness Always Tastes Better, WeMe introduces a diverse array of innovative product categories:
Choco Hazelnut Spread: Includes India’s first snack-and-dip chiplet-format offering.
Jhuri Aloo Bhaja: Bringing a popular Eastern favorite into the organised packaged segment.
Potato Chips: Formulated in flavors tailored to evolving consumer tastes.

Mr. Aditya Vardhan Agarwal, Director at Emami Group, emphasized that the brand aims to build consumer trust through relevance and innovation. Ms. Vidula Agarwal, Director, added that WeMe is designed to seamlessly integrate content, commerce, and community engagement to become an essential part of everyday moments.
Conceived as a digital-first brand, WeMe leverages creator-led content, social media, and quick-commerce platforms to engage younger consumers. The initial rollout covers major metropolitan cities including Kolkata, Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Ahmedabad, alongside simultaneous general trade expansion starting from Kolkata.
