The upcoming Bengali film Mihira is directed by Babai Sen and stars Bollywood actor Rahul Roy, Kharaj Mukherjee, Sajal Barman, Sonama Ghosh, Sanjoy Biswas, and others in pivotal roles.

The Kolkata Mail correspondent, Priyanka Dutta, caught up with the team of Mihira in an exclusive chat about the film.

The film is a mythological thriller and is a women-centric film, the director revealed.

The director said that the film deals with the freedom of women and superstitions in our society.

The story revolves around a Brahmin family in Cooch Behar. The pandit in the village forces them to make the daughter of the Brahmin family the servant of the temple. A group of young filmmakers from the city comes to the village to cover a fair. They finally uncover the atrocities happening against women in the village. Mihira goes missing, and this leads to fear and complaints among the villagers. The truth comes to light finally. It is revealed that superstitions lead to the tragedy in Mihira’s life.

The film shows the Rasmela of Coochbehar. “This is the first time that I have shot such a fair with fifty thousand people. The crowd has supported us during the shoot. The officials have also helped us a lot,” said the director.

Babai Sen further revealed that he had completed the second part of the film as well. This will be a continuation of the first film. It stars Rajatava Dutta, Shakti Kapoor, and Aryan Bhowmik in pivotal roles.

Two more films by the director are also eyeing release soon. One is titled Sabitri, and the other is titled Shiuli.

Sonama Ghosh did not want to reveal much about her character. She said that she had a great experience working in the film. She has also done an item song in Mihira. She had earlier done an item number titled Lolita which is streaming on YouTube.

The music of the film has been composed by Shom-Suman. There are five songs in the film.

The shoot of the film has been done in North Bengal.

Mihira is slated for release in the first week of September, while the second part is eyeing a release in December.
