Inaugural Kolkata Challenge In Kolkata After 25-Year Hiatus

The inaugural Kolkata Challenge was jointly launched by the European Challenge Tour, the TATA Steel Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), and the Royal Calcutta Golf Club (RCGC).

With a US$ 300,000 prize fund, the tournament is co-sponsored by the Challenge Tour and the TATA Steel PGTI. It is the second event in the Challenge Tour’s two-week Indian swing.

Following a twenty-five-year hiatus, an international tournament will once again take place in Kolkata at the historic RCGC from March 21–24, 2024.

The trophy of the tournament was unveiled at a press conference.

The Indian contingent will consist of Arjun Atwal, SSP Chawrasia, Arjun Atwal, Gaganjeet Bhullar, Om Prakash Chouhan, Manu Gandas, Rashid Khan, Udayan Mane, Yuvraj Singh Sandhu, Chikkarangappa and Karandeep Kochhar.

The leading names from the Challenge Tour in the field include John Parry of England, Mikael Lindberg and Björn Åkesson from Sweden, France’s Martin Couvra and Denmark’s Lucas Bjerregaard, to name a few.

Golf enthusiasts in Kolkata are ecstatic about the return of an international competition to the storied RCGC and the sports-loving city.
