WelcomArt, a project by ITC Hotels, honors indigenous art and gives regional artists a forum. As per custom, the locally made Christmas trees embrace modernism while honoring the area’s rich cultural legacy. This aligns with their Responsible Luxury philosophy and is a component of their effort to preserve the unique taste of the area.

Hand-painted Alpona lines—typically created with water and ground rice—are a modern take on an age-old craft for the Christmas décor. Mudar Patherya and his group of artists—Ratnabali Ghosh, Prasanta Sain, Lipika Mukherjee, and Moutusi Ghose—created this amazing piece. This culminated in artist Tapash Sarkar’s Christmas tree with an alpona theme.

Inspired by Bengal’s ancient traditions, ITC Sonar uses the leaves of the Shaal tree as the focal point of the winter décor to convey a festive mood. The artist Tapash Sarkar produced the ornaments constructed of jute and Gamcha.

ITC Royal Bengal celebrates the holiday with a modern take on traditional craftsmanship.
