“Kolkata Kathokata” is dedicated to conserving and presenting Kolkata’s rich cultural and historical legacy. The association has played a significant role in promoting a better understanding of the city’s past and is well-known for its active involvement in exhibitions, conversations, and publications in fields like art, literature, heritage, and culture. The organization continues to encourage young collectors to display their collections and participate in the discussion about conserving Kolkata’s history, in addition to bestowing lifetime awards on senior collectors.
This year’s exhibition, which will feature a variety of artifacts and memorabilia, promises to be an engrossing voyage through Kolkata’s past. Old newspapers, particularly special editions released on August 15, 1947, that encapsulated the spirit of India’s independence, are included in the featured collections.

Additionally, historical records and letters from well-known individuals that document the time of India’s independence movement will be on display for visitors to view. A selection of ephemera from the Independence Era will also be on display, including old banknotes from the British era to the first printed notes of an independent India, as well as brochures, leaflets, and advertisements that were distributed during that period. Along with collectibles like early pens, pencils, playing cards, enamel board ads, matchboxes, cameras, watches, key rings, and more, the exhibition will also feature the autographs of well-known individuals. With booklets, lobby cards, and memorabilia from his films, there will also be a special tribute to the renowned director Satyajit Ray.
A quiz on early Kolkata will also be available in addition to these collections, with the goal of enlightening and educating the next generation about the city’s intriguing past.
In addition to exploring and celebrating the legacy of one of India’s most iconic cities, the exhibition is open to everyone.
