New ICAI President Unveils The Institute’s Vision Drishti

President, ICAI – CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal, Vice President of the Institute – CA. Charanjot Singh Nanda, CA. Sushil Kumar Goyal, CA. Sanjib Sanghi, Chairman, CA. Vishnu K. Tulsyan, Vice Chairman, CA Mayur Agrawal, Secretary cum Treasurer, CA. Debayan Patra, CA. Ravi Kr. Patwa graced the unveiling of the institute’s vision Drishti.

During his speech, CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal emphasized how important the ICAI is to setting and maintaining standards, increasing revenue, and promoting financial literacy in the country. The ICAI is the largest accounting body in the world, operating in 81 countries, with a membership base of 4 lakhs and over 8.5 lakh students taking the CA degree. He emphasized gender equality, pointing out that the institute’s dedication to inclusivity is demonstrated by the fact that 43% of students and 29% of members are female.

The Institute’s goals are in line with the Government of India’s goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047. CA. Agarwal unveiled a strategic roadmap that identifies the years 2024–2049 as the Golden Period of the Profession, with the institute’s centenary year serving as a focus point.

CA. Ranjeet Kumar Agarwal is now the 72nd President of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), and the 12th President from the Eastern Region.

He highlighted the initiatives under Drishti. They are as follows:

D for Digitalisation: Putting E-Office into use, incorporating blockchain and artificial intelligence (AI) into CA procedures, and creating the AI in the ICAI committee.

R for Research: Forming an Aggregation of Firms committee, signing Memorandums of Understanding for accounting and auditing matters, and working with the government to improve the tax-to-GDP ratio.

I for Integrity: UDIN scheme for authentic document certification by the Chartered Accountants.

S for Skill: New education and training scheme in CA Course, focusing solely on ethics and technology.

H for Handholding: Each One Teach One scheme and collaborating with C&AG for accountability in local governance.

T For Transparency: Requiring peer review procedures to improve audit quality.

With such amazing ideas, ICAI will surely be breaking boundaries.
