October is considered National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This began in 1985 with the aim of enhancing the awareness levels of women regarding breast cancer. It also aims to gather funds for the cause, prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of this grave disease. Pink Ribbon symbolizes breast cancer awareness.

The doctors stressed the fact that like any other disease, cancer can also be cured if detected in the early stages. A large number of women come to the doctors at a later stage and this reduces the chances of a full recovery. With proper detection in the early stages, cancer survivors have a better chance of recovery from this grave disease.

For that, the women need to be aware and also see a doctor if she finds any changes happening in the breast. With earlier detection, breast cancer is curable. Mammography screening is essential and must be done by women who have a history of breast cancer in their families.

Earlier breasts were surgically removed. Now with the advancement made in science and technology, cancer patients can conserve their breasts.

The event also saw the performance of breast cancer survivors.
