They experience everything: trafficking, child marriage, abuse, and elopement. The girls of the Sunderbans live a vulnerable life every day because they are deprived of a joyful upbringing and the ability to overcome obstacles. And this is where each of us can make a difference by educating them and giving them more authority. This is the goal of SVP India and Katakhali Swapnopuron Welfare Society (KSWS). They ask you to defend the Sunderbans females during Rakshabandhan by giving them empowerment, education, and knowledge.

The official announcement of the campaign Bond of Love & Education was graced by actor- writer-director Sourav Chakraborty, who is also the face of the campaign, and other guests.

The goal of the month-long Rakshabandhan campaign from Katakhali Swapnopuron Welfare Society and SVP India is to support 450 Sunderbans girl students’ education for an entire year. They only need Rs 12,000 per child every year for this, and they are pleading with well-wishers to donate to the cause. The funds will be used to educate young girls and increase their awareness of how to overcome obstacles.

“My motivation to be the face of this noble campaign stems from my deep belief in the transformative power of education. I understand how crucial it is to provide young people with the knowledge and abilities they need to build better futures. By working with KSWS on this, I hope to do everything in my power to raise awareness of the value of education in improving the lives of kids in the isolated communities and islands of the Sunderbans” said Sourav Chakraborty.

Initiated in 2012 by Satarupa Majumder, a teacher at the time, and later helped by Mr. Biswajit Saha, Swapnopuron began as a learning institute in Hingalganj, Sunderbans. Satarupa was so overwhelmed by her experience that she quit her work and totally committed to the cause in 2018. Swapnopuron founded the sole English-medium school in the Sunderbans with the unwavering assistance of SVP India. The charity currently operates one main school (for grades kindergarten through eleven) and five branches in various panchayats within Hingalganj, and it is a key player in the Block Child Protection Committee. In all the afflicted panchayats within the Hingalganj block, it has also provided support for the epidemic, Amphan, and Yaas relief efforts.

This Rakshabandhan program is a lovely initiative since it brings people together in love and joy while also raising money.
