Sarode Festival To Keep Audiences Mesmerized From 2nd to 4th April
Sarode Festival was announced in the presence of Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Jawhar Sircar, Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Pandit Bickram Ghosh, Pandit Subhankar Banerjee, Pandit Narendra Nath Dhar, Pandit Nityananda Haldipur, Pandit Prattyush Banerjee, Rupak Saha, and others.
The Sarode Festival is an endeavor of the Annapurna Devi Foundation. The festival will be organized in association with Shyam Sundar Co Jewellers.
This music festival is the first music festival that happened after the pandemic scare.
Annapurna Devi was the daughter and also the disciple of Allauddin Khan. She was an Indian Surbahar Player (bass sitar) player. Some of her famous disciples include Hariprasad Chaurasia, Nikhil Banerjee, and Nityanand Haldipur.
“I had a great memory of Annapurna Devi. Before I started Shruti Nandan, I went to meet her. A lady came to open the door of her house. I had actually thought that she would not meet me. I thought the lady who opened the door was the maid of the house. But to my surprise, I found that it was Annapurna Devi. She was such a simple person and she even praised me. It was a great moment for me” said Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty.
The festival will be organized for a period of three days, 2nd to 4th April, and will see the performances of many reputed musicians.
On 2nd April, Shiraz Ali Khan, Pandit Bickram Ghosh, Pandit Partho Sarothy, and Sanjay Adhikary will perform.
On 3rd April, Pandit Prattyush Banerjee, Pandit Abhijit Banerjee, Pandit Basant Kabra, and Anubrata Chatterjee will perform.
And on the last day, Pandit Tejendra Narayan Majumdar, Pandit Subhankar Banerjee, Pandit Arup Chatterjee, and Pandit Narendranath Dhar will mesmerize the audiences.
The musical festival will take place at G. D. Birla Sabhaghar Kolkata from 6 pm onward.
