Suzie Q, the directorial debut of Chandan Roy Sanyal, has been officially selected to be showcased at the esteemed Kolkata International Film Festival (KIFF) in 2023. The film follows the story of Suzie Q, the main character portrayed by the talented and multifaceted actress Parno Mittrah.

The film’s cast consists of Prakash Jha, Sangeet Sivan, Umesh Jagtap, Kishtee Jog, and Priya Banerjee amongst others.

The film was written by Juhi Shekhar, directed by Chandan Roy Sanyal, and produced by Sanjay Kumar Pal under the banner of Vibrant Media.

When Suzie Q, at 40, travels to her ex-husband’s destination wedding with intense hallucinations, she falls on a strange and perilous adventure where reality becomes hazy.

Chandan Roy Sanyal said “It defies expectations, blurs the boundaries between genres, and allows for interpretation, which is why it’s intriguing. In addition, I had the privilege of working with three incredible directors on my directorial debut: veteran Sangeet Sivan, who plays Pinto in the film, and my mentor Vishal Bhardwaj, who wrote the movie’s soundtrack Tara. Prakash Jha, an accomplished director, reversed roles with me after directing me in the hit series Ashram”.

Prakash Jha revealed, “I was narrated my part by Chandan when we were filming Ashram. I thought there was a hint of craziness in the story, and it would be interesting to see the character come to life on screen”.

“I am delighted to have composed a song for Chandan’s directorial debut as this was a longstanding promise,” expressed Vishal Bhardwaj.

Parno Mittra said, “I couldn’t say no when Chandan approached me for Suzie Q because I had acted opposite him in ‘Urojahaj.  Additionally, this movie marks my debut in Hindi cinema”.

One can watch the film at the Kolkata International Film Festival, 2023 on the 9th and 10th of December, 2023.
