Three day Bagbazar–O-Rossogolla Utsob was inaugurated in the esteemed presence of Janab  Firhad Hakim, Hon’ble Mayor of Kolkata & Minister of Urban Development and Municipal Affairs, Government t of West Bengal, Shri  Sudip Bandyopadhyay, Member of Lok Sabha, North Kolkata, Sri Atin Ghosh, Deputy Mayor, Shri Debasish Kumar, Mayor-in-Council, Kolkata, Dr. Shashi Panja, MLA & Chief Convener of the bagbazar o Rossogolla Committee,  Shri  Subhaprasanna, Renowned Artist & Chief Advisor of the Committee along  with Actress Rituparna Sengupta and Great Great Grandson of Lt. Shri Nobin Chandra Das, Shri Dhiman Das at Gourimata Udyan Bagbazar.

The main aim of the festival is to pay tribute to the inventor of the Rossogolla, Nobin Chandra Das and highlight the history, heritage and culture of Bagbazar.

The inaugural ceremony saw the unveiling of the statue of the inventor of Rossogolla Late. Shri Nobin Chandra Das. This was followed by the introduction of the Postal Stamp and Special Cover on the completion of 150th year of his invention of Rossogolla. This was presented by Smt. J. Charukesi, Postmaster General, Kolkata Region. The occasion witnessed a mesmerizing Srikhol Badhon performance by Hare Krisha Haldar & group.

The first day of the Utsob also hosted a plethora of heartwarming cultural performances including  Indian musical composer Shri Debojyoti Mishra and group, a entertaining and an empowering adda session on the “ tradition of Bagbazar’ with Subhaprasanna, Ranjan Banerjee, Haripada Bhowmik, Pandit Ajay Chakraborty, Tarun Goswami, Indrani Bhattacharya. The panel also introduced the book “Baghbazar”- a compilation of the history and traditions of the Bagbazar.

The evening ended on a melodious note, with a performance by the band Humsufi, who charted renditions of Sufi songs.

The total number of stalls will be 25 including 15 stalls of branded sweets from the city to sweets from all over the districts of West Bengal.
