The sudden demise of Usha Ganguly was a great shock for the theatre lovers.  The Usha Ganguli Mancha at Rangakarmee Studio Theater was inaugurated recently and this was dedicated to the (late) founder.

Rangakrmee’s new executive team consists of Mr. Hirakendu Ganguli, president, Mrs. Tripty Mitra, director, and Mr. Anirudh Sarkar, secretary, and other esteemed members.

Architect Amitavo Ghose from IIT-Kharagpur has designed and given shape to the new Usha Ganguli Mancha with the concept by Anirudh Sarkar. The new space comes with a 20’x18’ performing area and gallery seating capacity of up to 70 people. Equipped with state of art surround sound system, 50 light projections to enhance the quality of productions, performance, and audience experience.

Rangakarmee Studio Theatre offers an extraordinaire flexible seating arrangement that can be converted into an arena or gallery seating. The existing Binodini Keya Mancha provides a 25’x15’ performing space with arena seating with a capacity of up to 70 + people. Other facilities available at the studio theatre include a well-stocked library, area for light and sound operations, microphones, projection area, separate green rooms for male and female artistes, backdrops for photoshoots, and the R Cafe for refreshments.

Upcoming Plans

Rangakarmee proposes to organize varied cultural activities in the areas of music, dance, Yoga, in addition to existing theatre and acting workshops. Rangakarmee intends to support, promote initiatives of art and culture. Rangakarmee aims to focus on individuals and groups from rural and lesser-known areas who tend to get deprived and are neglected by the mainstream organizers and media.
