The press conference to announce the 10th Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival took place recently.

Gracing the occasion were Indranil Sen, Hon’ble MOS, Arpita Ghosh, Chairperson, Shishu Kishore Akademi, and other eminent guests.

The Kolkata International Children’s Film Festival is presented by Shishu Kishore Akademi.

The five-day festival will have films from 30 countries. 111 films will be screened at this film festival.

The films selected at the festival are those that were released after 2017.

The inauguration will take place on 25th January at Nandan I at 5 pm. Chandrima Bhattacharya, Hon’ble MOS Indranil Sen, Sandip Ray, Arpita Ghosh, Ungkita Khawas, Amol Gupte, and other eminent guests will grace the inauguration ceremony.

The inaugural film will be Guras directed by Saurav Rai. The film won the Jury award at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in the Czech Republic.

The venues where the films will be screened are Nandan I, II, III, Rabindra Sadan, Sisir Mancha, Rabindra Okakura Bhavan, Chalachitra Satabarsha Bhavan, and Rabindra Tirtha.

The show times are 12 pm, 3 pm and 6 pm.

The children are the delegates at the festival. They will get delegate cards. But their parents will have to get the passes.

The special sections include:

  • Centenary tribute to Tapan Sinha
  • Centenary tribute to Mrinal Sen
  • Hayao Miyazaki Retrospective
  • There will be 9 inaugural films of previous editions.
  • 6 National-award winning Indian films in 4 different languages will be screened.
  • Vintage classics will be shown from 6 pm onwards at Ektara Mancha.
  • Hollywood classics like Casper, E.T., The Goonies, Mary Poppins, and others will be screened.
  • The Masterclasses will be held at Nandan IV. It will be conducted by Amol Gupte, Mohan Agashe, Praveen Krupakar, and Romit Meitei.
  • For the first time, there is a mobile film competition. 9 films will be screened in this segment.
  • There will be an exhibition Haate Kolome Cinema at Gaganendra Shilpapradarshashala daily from 2 pm to 8 pm.

The closing film will be Tale Danda directed by Praveen Krupakar.

The closing ceremony will take place at Nandan I on 29th January from 6 pm onwards.

This festival will start from 25th January and continue till 29th January.
