At the Taj Bengal in Kolkata, Mjunction Services Limited organized its two-day 17th Indian Coal Markets Conference. The conference’s topic, “Black to Green: Building a Sustainable Future for Coal,” gave executives in the business a chance to summarise the profound changes the coal industry is going through.

The conference covered important topics related to the energy and coal industries during this period of intense geopolitical turmoil, as well as the push for decarbonization and emission reduction. Among the main topics that were covered on the first day of the conference were how India’s energy transition process is developing and what would be the ideal ratio of fossil fuel to renewable energy.
Additionally, there were talks specifically focused on the dynamics of the world energy trade and commercial coal mining.

Mr.Vinaya Varma, MD & CEO of mjunction Services Limited said, “Coal is still needed today for a variety of uses, including the production of steel, coal-gasification, and electricity. However, as we turn back to coal to supply the rapidly increasing need for thermal energy, worries about carbon emissions continue to surface. The theme of this year’s conference has been selected with this backdrop in mind”.

Mjunction has held linkage auctions for the power, sponge iron, and cement industries thus far, totaling close to 15 million tonnes of coal. Linkage auctions for Syngas, Steel (Coking Coal), and Captive Power Plants are scheduled to start shortly. In a noteworthy accomplishment, mjunction created and implemented the digital signing of Fuel Supply Agreements (FSAs) for Coal India for linkage auction winners. Mr. Varma noted that mjunction is collaborating closely with CIL on several of its digitalization efforts.
