75 Musicians And Singers Performed In Jaya Hey 2.0 To Celebrate 75th Independence Day
“I am honored and I feel proud that I was born in the year that India got its freedom from British rule. And to be a part of this project with 75 singers and musicians to celebrate the 75 years of Independence was a huge honor” said Usha Uthup at the song launch of Jaya Hey 2.0.
The song launch was also graced by Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman, Ambuja Neotia, Anupam Roy, Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury, Rupam Islam, Sourendro Mullick, and Soumyojit Das.
Jaya Hey 2.0 is a rendition of the complete five verses of Bharat Bhagya Vidhata aka Jana Gana Mana.
The song Bharat Bhagya Vidhata was penned down by Rabindranath Tagore in 1911 and consists of five stanzas. Only the first stanza was adopted as the National Anthem in the 1950s. This was done to keep the duration of the song under one minute.
The song has been conceptualized, music composition and direction are by Sourendro and Soumyojit.
Harshavardhan Neotia lent his voice to the song to blend the theme of freedom and integrity.
The artists who took part in Jaya hey 2.0 are Amjad Ali Khan, Asha Bhosle, Hariharan, Kavita Krishnamurti, Shreya Ghoshal, Bombay Jayashri, Papon, Rashid Khan, Ajoy Chakraborty, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Benny Dayal, Kaushiki Chakraborty, Anup Jalota, Shubha Mudgal, Kailash Kher, Shantanu Moitra, Sivamani, Somlata Acharyya Chowdhury, Shaan, Shankar Mahadevan, Javed Ali, Udit Narayan, Shilpa Rao, Anupam Roy, Rekha Bhardwaj, Suresh Wadkar, Vishal Dadlani and others.
Sourendro said “We feel blessed that due to this song we have been able to meet such amazing and legendary singers from different parts of the country. And the fact that they have all agreed to be a part of this song was a huge achievement for us”.
Somlata who has lent her voice to the song said “I did not think twice before agreeing to this song. Some of the names with whom I will be singing this song made me say yes immediately. This has been a great experience and to sing such a song is an honor for me”.
Usha Uthup praised Sourendro and Soumyojit for bringing in musicians and singers from different parts of India for this song. “This has helped in showing the unity in diversity in Jaya hey 2.0” added the veteran singer.
