Press Conference of Buddhadeb Dasgupta’s Urojahaj at 25th KIFF
A press conference of the film Urojahaj directed by Buddhadeb Dasgupta was organized at 25th Kolkata International Film Festival in the presence of the director, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Raj Chakraborty and others just before the screening of the film.
The story of the film is about a village mechanic who dreams of flying. After discovering the crash site of a World War II Japanese plane, Bachchu Mondal decides to rebuild it. His project does not go unnoticed by the ghosts that haunt the place who are all victims of broken dreams. What happens next?
Speaking at the occasion, Buddhadeb Dasgupta said “When I was making the selection of the cast and especially of Bachchu, Chandan’s name came to my mind. He worked in my earlier film Tope and he is a fantastic actor. That is the reason why I cast him in this film too. I needed someone who has not become typecast yet and he fitted the bill perfectly”.
The cast of the film consists of Chandan Roy Sanyal, Parno Mittra and Sudipto Chatterjee.
On asked what advice he will give to the new generation of Bengali directors, Buddhadeb Dasgupta said “I will ask them to be more daring and make those films which will strike a chord in the hearts of the people”.
The veteran director also praised Raj Chakraborty and mentioned that he was doing a fantastic job as the festival Chairman.
Chandan Roy Sanyal narrated a story of how he had to climb trees and get friendly with monkeys so as to shoot the film Tope. For this film also, he was given a six months time period during which he prepared himself for the role. The actor mentioned that getting the chance to work with the director was worth the effort.
The music of the film is by Alokananda Dasgupta.
The screenplay of the play is by Buddhadeb Dasgupta.
The director added that after the release of the film on 13th December, he will be beginning the shoot of his next film. He did not reveal the story of the film. However he asked Chandan Roy Sanyal that he will be there in his new film too.
