“To Act Opposite Soumitra Chatterjee Made Me Accept the Offer”- Parambrata Chatterjee on Sraboner Dhara at 25th KIFF

Director duo Abhijit Guha and Sudeshna Roy’s film Sraboner Dhara was screened at the 25th Kolkata International Film Festival.

A press conference was organized at the festival which was attended by the director duo, Soumitra Chatterjee, Gargee Roychowdhury, Parambrata Chatterjee, Dr Suvendu Sen and others.

The film’s story is about Amitava Sarkar, a patient who suffers from Alzheimer. He is treated by Neelabho Roy, a neuro physician. Shubha, a young lady accompanies Mr Sarkar.Neelabho is suspicious about her identity though the lady is addressed as Mr Sarkar’s wife. The film deals with identity crisis of three people.

The producer of the film is Pradip Churiwal.

The screenplay has been written by Dr Suvendu Sen and Padmanabha Dasgupta.

Speaking about the character, Gargee Roychowdhury said “I had a great time shooting the film as I was offered the film by two of my favourite directors. The second attraction was the chance to act opposite Soumitra Chatterjee in the role of his wife. It was a lifetime opportunity”.

The music of the film is by Aashu Abhishek.

The cast of the film consists of Soumitra Chatterjee (Dr Amitabha Sarkar), Parambrata Chatterjee (Dr Neelabho Roy), Gargee Roychowdhury (Shubha Sarkar), Damini Basu (Sarah Verghese) and others.

Parambrata Chatterjee mentioned that getting the chance to act with Soumitra Chatterjee was the most appealing aspect why he accepted to act in the film. Moreover the story of the film was also appealing as it dealt with a disease which most people do not have a clear idea about.

Soumitra Chatterjee said “I had acted in a few films dealing with the disease of Alzheimer. I have seen the disease on first hand. So I know about the intricacies associated with the disease. The film hopefully will be liked by the audience”.

The film will be releasing in theatres in Kolkata in February 2020.
