Bengali film Parcel is eyeing for release on 13th March. Before the film releases, The Kolkata Mail correspondent Priyanka Dutta caught up with Saswata Chatterjee in an exclusive chat about the film. Excerpts..

The film shows that Nandini, Souvik’s wife starts getting parcels from unknown people. Have you ever got such parcels in your life?

Saswata Chatterjee- I did not get parcels before. What I got was prank calls where the caller did not say anything on the phone. What I heard was only background noises. Now it has become easy for people to send parcels with so many companies offering services to send parcels to people. After the film releases, I am sure I will get parcels.

How was the experience of working with Rituparna Sengupta?

Saswata Chatterjee- This is our third film together- Rajkahini, Goodnight City and Parcel. Chhuti is another film which we have done together and which is eyeing for release. She is extremely professional. If you are not professional, you will not be able to hold this position for a long time. Hence working with her is always a good experience.

How was Indrasis Acharya as a director?

Saswata Chatterjee- This is my first work with him. However he gave his two other films to me so that I could see them. What I understood was his style of taking the shots was different. He likes to take long shots. He is a director of cinema. What I liked about him is all his films are different from one another. He decides the shot according to the demands of the script. That is a good thing. I know there is more to Indrasis which will be revealed with the help of his works.

The film received great appreciation at the festivals. How do you think the audience will react to this film?

Saswata Chatterjee- There is an undercurrent of tension permeating throughout the film. That will keep the audience hooked to their seats for sure. There are no big blast scenes or car chase scenes but there is enough going on to keep the audiences glued to their seats. I have seen the film as an audience and I liked it. There are many films that I have worked in and I could not sit and watch it completely. But this film is worth a watch.

If you had to send parcels to Rituparna Sengupta and Indrasis Acharya, what would you send?

Saswata Chatterjee- (smiles) I will send a watch to Rituparna so that she can some on time to the sets. Even if she is late, she makes up for that by working more. However I wish she came more punctually to the sets. The watch will be a special one as alarm will go off every second.

I know Indrasis loves to eat. So I will send him good food via parcel.

We hope that Parcel becomes a hit and the team receives lots of love and success for their efforts!!
