The Covid-19 pandemic situation has led to a lot of insecurities and uncertainties all around. In this period, when the admission process is expected to be full-fledged, the entrance tests are not taking place at proper times. The NEET and JEE Main were to be held in July but have been postponed to September. The Supreme Court recently heard the PIL regarding the request from students and parents on the postponement of NEET and JEE Main exams further. On Monday, August 17th, SC headed by Justice Arun Mishra, dismissed the petition and said that the exams should be held in September as scheduled. With the continuous delay of exams, it delays JEE Main admit card, JEE Main Result, and any other events as well.  But now the apex court voiced against the further postponement of JEE Main and NEET as it will only put students’ careers in peril. If these exams are not conducted, it will lead to a loss in the academic year of the students leading to a loss to the entire country. But with the verdict, a student must focus on preparation so that it does not hamper the JEE Main Result.

JEE Main Result 2020 – Important Dates

The JEE Main 2020 result for September exam will be out by September, as told by NTA General Vineet Joshi.

  • JEE Main Examination Date (April) – Between September 1st-September 6th 2020
  • JEE Main Result 2020 (April) – September (tentatively)

The JEE Main result that was announced is for the JEE Main January session. For checking the results, candidates need to go to the official website and enter their registration number/date of birth as they have done for checking the admit card.

JEE Main Result for January Exam, 2020 – Statistics

The B.E/B.Tech paper for the January session was held between January 7th and January 9th, 2020. The result for the same was declared on January 17th, 2020. Some of the statistics that were seen are as follows.

  • Around 9,21,261 candidates registered for the JEE Main B.E/B.Tech paper and 8,69,010 appeared for the test.
  • There were about 570 centers all across India and abroad for the smooth conduct of the examination.
  • There were 536 Observers, 213 City-Coordinators, and 19 Regional Coordinators deployed at all the centers to create smooth conduct of the examination.
  • Nine candidates secured an NTA score 100 in the January session.

How to check JEE Main Result 2020

The following steps are useful for checking the JEE Main result 2020

STEP 1

Visit the official website of NTA JEE Main. The weblink of the site is jeemain.nta.nic.in

STEP 2

On the website, candidates will be able to see the tab of JEE Main Result 2020. Candidates need to click on this tab.

STEP 3

The application number, date of birth, and the security pin have to be entered on the tab as it appears.

STEP 4

Click on the tab of SUBMIT to check the JEE Main Result 2020.

STEP 5

The result will consist of all the personal details of the candidates. The result will consist of the following

  • Individual marks in each subject
  • Total marks in JEE Main paper
  • The cut-off score for JEE Advanced eligibility category wise

After viewing the result, it is advised to save and download the JEE Main Result for future needs. Candidates must take note that this time the results will not be sent via post. Hence, it will be available on the portal and must be downloaded by the students. This scorecard is essential for future admission processes, such as for JEE Main Counselling.

What after JEE Main Result 2020?

Candidates must read the following points to make sure that they know what happens after the declaration of JEE Main Result 2020.

Cut-off for JEE Advanced

The JEE Advanced 2020 has been tentatively scheduled for September 27th, 2020. Candidates will qualify for JEE Advanced according to the scores of JEE Main. After qualifying for all three subjects in JEE Advanced along with the aggregate, they will be eligible for admission in IIT. JEE Advanced cut-off will be different for various categories.

Counseling for JEE Main 2020

NTA handles the entire examination procedure from its conduct to the declaration of JEE Main Result. After the compilation of the result, it is sent across the various allocation boards. The states and the respective institutes then accept the results for seat allotment and counseling. JoSAA and CSAB are responsible for all seat allocation procedures.

  • Joint Seat Allocation Authority JoSAA is responsible for conducting the JEE Main Counselling and Seat Allotment after the declaration of JEE Main result 2020.
  • Six rounds will take place.
  • The candidates will be called for counseling according to the ranks that they get in the JEE Main Rank Name list.
  • This entire procedure shall be carried forward through JEE Main Counselling.
  • 31 NITs, 25 IIITs, and 28 other government-funded technical institutes will participate in this, accepting the JEE Main result of 2020.

JEE Main Seat Allotment

The seat allotment is done based on merit and availability of seats. There is an opportunity to learn about the seat allotment process through the mock allotment of seats that takes place in two rounds. The All India Rank (AIR) that students will get in the JEE Main result is used for admissions through the Central Seat Allocation Board and Joint Seat Allocation Authority for admission to NITs / IIITs / CFTIs, and others. The All India Rank will be compiled once the JEE Main 2020 Examination for April session is done. A minimum of 75% in class 12th is the eligibility for admission to IITs / NITs / IITs and GFTIs.
