Guatemala Announced As Focal Theme Country of 43rd International Kolkata Book Fair 2019
The press meet to announce the 43rd International Kolkata Book Fair 2019 was organized in the presence of Tridib Kumar Chatterjee, Sudhangshu Dey, Goivanni Castillo, H.E. Ambassador of Guatemala in India and others.
The book fair will commence from 30th January and end on 10th February. The inauguration of the festival will be done by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other eminent personalities.
In 2018, 2.2 million people visited the book fair and books worth Rs 22 crore were sold at the fair.
The focal theme of the book fair this time is Guatemala. Apart from this, the international complex will also see the presence of UK, USA, Russia, China, Japan, Vietnam, Bangladesh and 11 Latin American countries. Iran will have a special presence this year at the book fair.
In 2019, Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th birth anniversary will be celebrated. Keeping that in mind, programs dedicated to the Father of the Nation will also be organized.
The 6th Kolkata Literature Festival will be organized at the premises from 7th to 9th January.
The book fair will be open from 12 noon to 8 pm on all working days at Central Park Mela Ground, Salt Lake.
