After a period of 45 years, Aurora Film Corporation will again be producing a Bengali film. Their last feature film was Moyna Tadanta. The new film is titled Kalkokkho (House of Time) and has been directed by director duo Sarmistha Maiti and Rajdeep Paul. The director duo is an alumnus of SRFTI and is a National Award-winning filmmaker.

The teaser and poster launch of this upcoming Bengali film was done in the presence of Goutam Ghose and the cast and crew of the film.

The story of the film is set in the middle of the pandemic. A doctor is abducted by a young woman to ensure the safety of her family during the pandemic. There are three women in the house of different ages. A paranoid young woman, an old woman who has amnesia, and a lonely young girl are the three members. The doctor realizes that there are forces beyond his comprehension that are at play. He also understands that he might not be only trapped in space but also in time.

“We had made short films and our story for our first feature film was different. However, with the onset of the pandemic, we changed the story of our first film. The sense of being trapped in time, a reminder of our mortality and our selfish natures- all have been exposed with the help of this film. The film will be exploring the brightest and the darkest sides of the human soul” said, director Sarmistha Maiti.

Rajdeep opined that though films on time-loop are common in Hollywood, they are not so common in Bengali films. With Kalkokkho, they wanted to give the Bengali film-watching audiences a feel of the time loop.

The cast of the film consists of Sreelekha Mukherji, Janardan Ghosh, Tannistha Biswas, Amit Saha, Deep Sarkar and Ahana Karmakar.

The film is produced by Anjan Bose. Kalkokkho has been written by Rajdeep Paul and Sarmistha Maiti.

Speaking at the occasion, Goutam Ghose said “I have known Anjan for many years now. And the fact that Aurora is again producing a film is great news indeed. What the pandemic has shown us is how selfish we humans have become. It also pointed out our lack of humanity. The fact that we cannot survive alone has been highlighted during the pandemic”.

The music of the film has been composed by Avijit Kundu.

The duration of the film is 125 minutes.

The film is eyeing for release during Diwali.
