From the historical fiction novels, Empire of the Moghul: Raiders from the North by Alex Rutherford, Disney+ Hotstar has joined hands with Nikkhil Advani of Emmay Entertainment to present The Empire.

The story of the series is about the King of Ferghana who dies in an accident and the young prince will have to take over the throne. It is a time of great distress due to imminent danger from an evil warlord. An assassination attempt on the king further deepens the worries. The young king must now take responsibility for an entire kingdom.

Directed by Mitakshara Kumar who has also co-written this mammoth project with Bhavani Iyer, this is produced by Monisha Advani and Madhu Bhojwani.

Director Mitakshara Kumar said that when she started working on The Empire, she treated it like a movie and not a show. This helped her to create an experience on a massive scale where every detail was minutely taken care of.

Drashti Dhami will be seen in the role of Khanzada. The actress said the role was challenging but equally empowering. Through Khanzada’s eyes, the audience will see how strategy and planning come into play and how easily allies become adversaries. Every day on the set of The Empire was an experience on its own.

Dino Morea will be seen as Shaibani Khan in the series. He is the most dynamic and interesting antagonist that the actor has played in my career. For the character, the actor had to become a menacing, shrewd, and scary man.

The Empire will release on 27th August 2021 exclusively on Disney+ Hotstar.
