Director Indira Dhar Mukherjee has earned acclaim for her works like The Green Window, Soch, and Mulaqat.

The director was busy shooting for a new short film titled Swadeshini Bideshini with the cast consisting of Rupsha Guha, Moubani Sorcar, Joy Banerjee, Sharmila Sen, Hampi Sen, Kabir Mukherjee, and others.

Moubani Sorcar plays Subhalaxmi in the film. The actress said that the best part of the character is the sweetness. “Shooting in the hot and humid weather is challenging. However, when you do something that you love, it is not a hindrance. And as an actress, it is a part of our job to get decked in summer clothes during the winter season and vice-versa” said Moubani.

Indira Dhar Mukherjee who loves making short films finally fulfilled her wish of making a Bengali short film. The story of the short film is about two best friends who meet one another after a long time. They are from two different worlds. It is a comedy film and since the Bengali audience loves comic content, the director hoped that this film will be well received by the audience.

The director’s three-year-old son Kabir Mukherjee has also acted in this short film.

There are no songs in the short film.

Joy will be seen in a guest role. He plays the role of the husband of the character played by Rupsha Guha. “I come back to surprise my wife and mother. It is a very good story and the audience will surely love it. I have walked past this place so many times and yet I never thought that such a good house was nestled here” said the actor.

Rupsha will be seen in the role of the housewife in this short film. “This is a very different and interesting character. It is unlike anything that I have done before. When the director told me the story, I fell in love with my character” said the actress.

The film has a tentative release date in June.
