The press conference for director Amitabha Chaterji’s film “Into The Mist” took place at the 27th Kolkata International Film Festival in the presence of the director and others.

Three days before an election, the State becomes aware that a female Mathematics teacher is trying to vandalize the election. She has a romantic relationship with a ghost and they are prepping the villagers to go against the State. Two officers from the Centre are sent for investigating the situation.  An elderly police informer and former feudal lord also join in the secret mission. The investigation continues. However, it looks like they are stuck between the State and the ghost.

On the day of the election, they go to a secluded place and wait for the ghost’s arrival. Will the ghost show up?

The director had directed the feature film Manohar and I and a short film Migratory.

Speaking at the press conference, the director said “Several political incidents triggered my helplessness as a citizen. That led me to select this story for my film”.

The cast of the film consists of Loknath Dey, Madhumita Sengupta, Shyamal Chakraborty, and Amrita Mukhopadhyay.

Amrita Mukhopadhyay said “I am a theatre actress. Whatever I learned during my stint as a theatre artist, I had to undo it. The director told me to forget the actions that I do in theatre. So when I went back to the theatre, my director there said that I had forgotten how to act in theatre. So you can see I had to remember what to do for Amitabha’s film and then keep in mind what to do for my role in the theatre”.

The duration of the film is 80 minutes.
