“This Is A Story Of Nilanjana And My Life”- Jisshu Sengupta At Press Meet Of Horo Gouri Pice Hotel
“I was born in Kolkata while Nilanjana was brought up in Mumbai. I cannot speak English properly. I cannot cook like the hero in the serial but my cooking skills have improved. Thanks to my stay in Mumbai due to work. I grew up in a house similar to the one that you are seeing as the set for this serial. My ancestral home is in Dhakuria. The condition of the house is not so good. But I have a lot of memories. I have many resemblances with Shankar” said Jisshu Sengupta at the press conference of Horo Gouri Pice Hotel.
The cast and crew along with producer duo Jisshu Sengupta and Nilanjana Sengupta graced the press conference.
Star Jalsha’s new serial “Horo Gouri Pice Hotel”, is a journey of two characters Shankar & Oishani. They hail from both contrasting backgrounds and lifestyles. However, they understand the other half’s strengths and, in the process, play an instrumental role in shaping each other’s lives.
Oishani lives in the posh locality of Ballygunge. Born in a luxury household, she enjoys a refined and carefree life. Her father Shishir had instilled the value of “education empowers an individual”. She is a gold medalist and wants to pursue her higher studies.
Shankar and his family live in the old lanes of Kalighat. Shankar’s life revolves around the Horo Gouri Pice Hotel. They live in an outdated world that is a far cry from the modern and progressive world of today’s times. They have very basic needs, they are ambitionless and generations together have lived this way. Being educated is of no value in this household. Destiny brings Shankar and Oishani together. What happens next?
Shankar is played by Rahul Mazumdar and Oishani’s character is played by Suvosmita Mukherjee. This is her debut project.
“Shankar is loved by everyone due to his kind and considerate nature. I last acted in Khukumoni Home Delivery. I gained some weight for that character and I had to shed them for this role. I learned how to cut vegetables, and visited the pice hotel sometimes for this role. I usually speak fast and hence I had to practice speaking slowly for this role. I was asked to learn cooking but I am afraid and hence I could not learn it” said Rahul Mazumdar.
Suvosmita had done modeling assignments before her debut stint on television. The actress was a bit nervous as she was still learning the nuances of acting on the small screen from her seniors on the set.
“I watched Kareena Kapoor and I wanted to act. The fact that I finally got the chance made me so happy” added the actress.
Jisshu Sengupta also added that they will be showing a realistic story with this serial. “There is a pice hotel in our neighborhood. Despite the introduction of so many food apps, their business continues unabated” added Jisshu.
Nilanjana Sengupta said “We wanted to tell this story for the audience. This is nothing extraordinary. We all have seen or heard about it. This could be made into a film but that would be completed within two hours. We wanted to show the real essence and hence we thought a serial will be better”.
The show is produced under Blue Water Motion Pictures.
The new serial Horogouri Pice Hotel will begin from 12th September, Monday to Friday at 10 pm only on Star Jalsha SD and HD.
