Sohorer Ushnotomo Dine Is A Love Letter To Kolkata
“Sohorer Ushnotomo Dine is just like a love letter to Kolkata. We might have gone to other cities for work or other purposes, but a part of Kolkata always remains inside us. This is what gave me the idea to make this film” said director Aritra Sen at the press conference of the film at the 28th KIFF.
Also gracing the occasion were music composer Nabarun Bose, Rahul Dev Bose, Debopriyo Mukherjee, Sujoy Prosad Chatterjee, and others.
The film is a coming-of-age love story of two individuals born and brought up in Kolkata namely Anindita and Ritoban. Life gives them a second chance when a disillusioned Ph.D. student in London, Ritoban comes back to Kolkata and meets Anindita. She is now a successful RJ. What happens next when they meet after such a long time?
“Our generation has to face urban migration very much. The film showcases this aspect of our lives. The story shows a group of friends. Some of them have to leave the city for work or study purposes while some have stayed back in the city. This is something we all will be able to relate to” said the director.
The cinematography has been done by Basudev Chakraborty.
The editor of the film is Sumit Chowdhury.
The cast consists of Vikram Chatterjee, Solanki Roy, Devesh Roy Chowdhury, Sudipa Basu, Rahul Dev Bose, Anamika Chakraborty, and Debopriyo Mukherjee.
Rahul Dev Bose said “Urban migration is faced by most of us. Many of my friends have to go to other cities for jobs. Despite loving the city, they cannot come back as they have limited possibilities in the city. Many of us faced such a crisis. We all have felt the emotions deeply while shooting the film”.
There are three songs in the film that has been sung by Lagnajita, Timir, and Arnab.
The film has been produced by Roadshow Films and Shadow Films.
Sohorer Ushnotomo Dine has been selected under the Bengali Panorama section at 28th KIFF.
