The press conference of two short films Meera and Canvas took place in the presence of the cast and crew of the film at the 28th KIFF.

Meera is directed by Saurav Mookherji and is a crowd-funded film.

The cinematographer of the film is Vishal Gupta.

The cast of the film consists of Antara Banerjee.

Meera is a recital of the memory and the sense of longing it holds. It nurtures a soul who is never lonely as she takes refuge in poetry.

Speaking at the event, the director said “I chose Meera and not Radha or Sita because Meera has a historical background. I am not negating the existence of Radha or Sita. But Meera has more presence in the historical setting and people know about her devotion”.

The other film Canvas is directed and produced by Sukanta Surjo. He has also done the cinematography of the film.

The editing and music of the film are by Neel.

The cast of the film consists of Timir Baran Ray and Raima Roy.

Canvas’s story is about a renowned artist who comes across a destitute kid who is on the verge of death. He decides to capture the tragic final moments on a canvas rather than helping him out. The short film highlights the darkest sides of the human mind that have become worse due to the advancement of technology.

“The artist is in a wheelchair and takes pains to reach places. The artist could have taken the time to save the child. My film shows what will happen to mankind after 50 years. Only human beings will be there. We will get to know about vultures from pictures and paintings. This is what I have tried to show in the film” said the director.

The film Canvas has been selected in the Competition on Indian Short Films segment.
