hoichoi is known for producing captivating content that genuinely engages its viewers. The renowned actresses Swastika Mukherjee and Tota Roy Choudhury collaborated with director Ayan Chakraborti to deliver the show “Nikhoj”, which has an engrossing plot. The show, which lives up to its name, centers on a mother’s persistent search for her missing daughter.

In a much-anticipated press conference, the cast came together with the director to present the show’s enthralling official poster in front of respected members of the media community. The show’s eagerly anticipated August launch will be preceded by this grand celebration.

Brinda Basu (Swastika Mukherjee), DCP Lalbazar’s daughter, inexplicably vanishes after going to a party with her friends. The well-known journalist Romit Sen (Tota Roy Choudhury), who doubles as her beloved boss and mentor, is found lost and confused inside a blood-stained car. This riveting account reveals a horrific tale including forensic examinations, police procedures, romantic involvements, dishonesty, lies, and the repercussions of adolescent misdeeds. But at the center of this intriguing case is a mother’s anguished battle to keep her sanity and impartiality while her kid is still missing.

Swastika Mukherjee said “I am working again with hoichoi after two years. Working with this team of hoichoi is a pleasure as they are so well organized and we never have to think of anything at all. I am excited about this. I have wanted to work with Ayan da for a long time. We have talked about many scripts but working together did not happen. He sent me scripts of two seasons and I read it out of curiosity. When I was shooting, I used to ask why we did not shoot a particular scene. Later the director said it was a scene from the second season. Hence you can understand”.

Swastika had last worked with Tota in 90 Ghonta in 2008. “He has not changed a bit in the last many years. However I have changed. When we were shooting, I asked the cameraman that I must look less bulky”.

This is also the first time that Swastika will be seen as a police officer and the actress said that she had a great time shooting for this role.

Tota Roy Choudhury while speaking about the character said “I have worked with different kinds of directors. But Ayan is a director who gives his artists the space they need for bringing alive a character on screen. The character of Romit is well-fleshed out and it had been a wonderful experience”.

Speaking about Swastika, Tota said, “She underwent a transformation during the shoot so much that it often scared me. She looks very soft. But when she is acting, she is a different person altogether. I had a good time working with her”.

Director Ayan Chakraborti said “We shot for the series during extreme heat. This is not a detective story but a thriller. Thriller is the way to tell this story. It is basically a story of relationships. This series also shows how we have all become judgmental in this age of social media. Whether that is a good attitude or not, will also be shown in this story”.

Paran Bandopadhyay, Koneenica, and others will be seen in pivotal roles in this series.

Rupam Islam composed the music for the series.

Nikhoj is slated to stream on hoichoi, this August.
