Patra Ni Machchi is a simple yet tasty dish that you can try in the comfort of your home. This dish needs few ingredients and the cooking process is also easy.

Ingredients:

1 Kg Pomfret fillets

Salt

Lemon juice

½ Turmeric (optional)

Oil

Ingredients

For Chutney:

1 cup fresh grated coconut

¾ cup fresh coriander chopped

6 green chillis

1 tsp cumin seeds

10 – 12 garlic cloves

1 tbsp Vinegar

1 tsp sugar

Salt

ImportantBanana leaves and thread to tie

Method:

  • Clean & wash fish, add salt & lemon juice.
  • Slightly warm banana leaves over flame, they go limp so easy to fold.
  • Grind together the ingredients for chutney.
  • Take a piece of banana leaf, apply oil on the inner surface, place a fillet of pomfret, and coat it with chutney on all sides. Fold the leaf and tie the thread to secure it.
  • Put water in a steamer and arrange the prepared fillets on it. Steam the fish for 25 minutes.
  • Unthread the banana leaf and serve.
