The trailer launch of Klikk’s upcoming web series Pilkunj took place recently in the presence of director Arnab Riingo Banerjee, Trina Saha, Sean Banerjee, Devtanu, and others.

The events depicted in this series actually occurred in North India in 2017. In a little village hamlet near a tiger reserve, a controversy broke out. Numerous tiger assaults resulted in numerous fatalities. These ostensibly terrible events were part of a diabolical scheme. A journalist named Siddharth travels from Calcutta to this area to investigate the happenings in question.  pretending to be a skilled photographer. His disguise is exposed, and he ultimately is apprehended. He teams up with a female doctor named Bidita in this dismal quest. She was a part of the neighborhood medical facility. Every turn is fraught with risk. The hunter’s and the hunted’s deadly chase propels the story via a tense turn of events.

Will they be able to work together and avoid the dangers of impending death? Would they be able to uncover this village’s horrifying dark secrets?

The director himself took several challenges to get the exact feel in many sequences. One such sequence is where the director was in neck-deep water to get the feel of a rapid.

“Pilkunj is my homage in honor of Project Tiger’s 50th anniversary. One of the North Indian tiger sanctuaries was the subject of a scam in 2017, which shocked those in positions of authority. The fact that those who were sacrificed did so voluntarily in exchange for the payment their families would get after their death is what made the occurrence so stunning. In this case, until the truth was revealed and the shadowy aspect of human nature was made clear, one would immediately accuse the tigers and label them as man-eaters. The swindle was exposed, but the horrifying details of the sacrifice continue to haunt those who saw the horrific events in the North Indian town. I found this to be a story worth telling” said Riingo.

“I had to prepare myself rigorously to understand the physical and mental condition of the character Siddharth. I knew it would be difficult but I did not know that it would be so tough. The weather was not perfect. However, everything fell into place eventually” said Sean.

The series is produced by Ohendrila Banerjee of Ring A Bell Films.

Trina Saha said “This is the first time I have played such a knowledgeable character. This is a character that is quite different from the roles that I have played to date. Bidita does not have any fun moments in the series. She is a serious character. Initially, the director did not have confidence that I would be able to pull this off. But the producer kept faith in me and I was able to portray this character”.

The cinematography, editing, and BGM are by Arnab Riingo Banerjee.

The series is slated for release soon on Klikk.
