“This Is The 1st Time That 2 Of My Films Are Screened At KIFF”-Swastika Mukherjee
“After working for more than two decades in the film industry, this is the first time that I am attending the Kolkata International Film Festival with two of my films being screened here. This feels amazing. And I am especially glad that a new director’s film has been selected” said Swastika Mukherjee at the press conference of Bijoyar Pore at 29th KIFF.
Also gracing the occasion were director Abhijit Sridas, Deepankar De, Kheya Chattopadhyay, and others.
The story revolves around a family against the backdrop of Durga Puja. Ananda and Alokananda wait for the family gathering during Durga Puja. Mrinmoyee and her husband Mizanoor will visit for the first time after their separation. Their son plans to convert the home without thinking about the feelings of their parents. On Bijoya, Ananda dies. What happens next?
“A major part of my films have been with new directors. I was also new at the time. And I know how it feels to be rejected. Even new directors can direct amazing films and this film is proof of their amazing capability” said the actress.
She also added that acting opposite Deepankar De made her nostalgic. “It felt like I was with my father. They look so similar. Their walking style is also the same. I am glad that he came for the press conference” said Swastika.
Deepankar De said how he had argued with Mamata Shankar during the shoot of the film. “By the time she felt her shot was ok, I felt mine was not ok. Hence we argued. But I know her for such a long time and our arguments were resolved as easily” said the veteran actor.
The film has been produced by Sujit Raha.
The music has been composed by Ranojoy Bhattacharjee.
Bijoyar Pore has been selected under Competition: Bengali Panorama.
