With more than 1300 Indians dying every day due to cancer, cancer is proliferating at an alarming rate in India. ICMR forecasted a 12% growth in India’s cancer cases within the next 5 years which means that in the absence of proper interventions, it would only be a matter of time before we become the world’s cancer capital.

Breast, lung, cervical, prostate, and oral cancers are the most common cancers seen in West Bengal. Most of the cancer treatment facilities are concentrated in the city of Kolkata; hence, there is a need to make cancer care accessible to the patients of sub-urban and district towns.
