Rimo Shah, a Kolkata boy, made history by being the first Indian para swimmer to complete the difficult trek from Robben Island to Blaauwberg. Saha’s outstanding accomplishment not only demonstrates his extraordinary talent and willpower but also exemplifies the unwavering attitude of Indian para-athletes on the international scene. This accomplishment, which was made possible by the sports vertical of the Shrachi Group, highlights the teamwork and dedication to enabling sportsmen to realize their goals.

“Starting on a journey echoing the resilience of Nelson Mandela, I am proud to share that I am the First Indian and Bengal para swimmer, who has conquered the challenging waters around Robben Island. This open-water swim was no ordinary effort, as it involved battling water temperatures as low as 12–14°C and navigating through the worlds of jellyfish, blue whales, and sunfish. There was a genuine worry that if I happened to come into contact with them, I wouldn’t be hurt. Furthermore, hypothermia poses a serious risk to swimmers in these chilly waters. This was running through my head. I didn’t want to miss out since I so badly wanted to succeed” said Rimo Saha.

The accomplishment of Rimo is a landmark development for Indian Sports. This accomplishment should make every Indian proud. The choppy surf and freezing water made this swim maybe Rimo’s hardest. But Rimo overcame the challenges because of his tenacity and diligent training. ShrachiSports will help him in his further efforts.

After being honored by Shrachi Sports Ventures LLP, Saha will continue to get assistance from the company for his next swimming trips to Poland and the Seven Seas.
