Hornet, a Kolkata-based startup and incubatee of Webel-BCC&I Tech Incubation Centre has emerged victorious in the prestigious national-level competition “CHUNAUTI 5.0”.

A noteworthy 25 lakh investment from STPI (Software Technology Parks of India) has added to the company’s recent success, elevating Hornet’s valuation to an astounding Rs 8 crore. Following that, STPI provided Hornet with the chance to showcase their product as Indian Technology for the World at TiEcon from May 1–4, 2024, as part of the Global Connect Programme, one of the main pillars of STPI’s LEAP AHEAD initiative.

One of the biggest tech conferences in the world, TiEcon is designed for investors, corporate executives, and entrepreneurs by top Silicon Valley figures. Hornet’s achievements include winning the Best Startup Award at ABP INFOCOM 2023 and receiving a sizable grant of 10 lakhs from the prestigious Indian Statistical Institute Kolkata under the Department of Science and Technology’s Fund. In November 2023, the Lt. Governor of Delhi, Shri Vinai Saxena, presented them with the IGNOU Best Innovation Award, setting an example for other nascent cybersecurity startups.

Startups from The Webel-BCC&I Tech Incubation Centre and other startups participated in an interactive session to pitch their brands during The Bengal Chambers Tech-E-Summit, which was held in Bengaluru on August 4, 2023, in the gracious presence of Shri Babul Supriyo, Hon’ble Minister-in-Charge, Information Technology and Electronics Department, Government of West Bengal government. Hornet, a company that specializes in blockchain technology and cutting-edge cybersecurity, attended the Summit and received accolades along with other attendees.

The Webel-BCC&I Tech Incubation Centre recognized Hornet’s potential and provided invaluable support in terms of dedicated mentorship from industry leaders like Mr. C. N.
