CMRI (Calcutta Medical Research Institute) led a ground-breaking campaign to raise awareness of sepsis, a potentially fatal illness that is sometimes ignored in the larger healthcare discourse, in honor of World Sepsis Day. CMRI reaffirmed its leadership in healthcare by organizing a panel discussion with experts on “Handling Sepsis in Critical Care Units” and striving to save lives via knowledge sharing, creative problem-solving, and professional cooperation.

To close the knowledge gap on sepsis among professionals and the general public, a distinguished panel of medical experts with extensive training in critical care and sepsis management was assembled for the event. This innovative project showed CMRI’s steadfast dedication to advancing research and providing top-notch care for this difficult illness.

The panel consisted of Dr. Anirban Chattopadhyay, Head of the Critical Care Unit, CMRI, Dr. Amrita Bhattacharya, Incharge Respiratory Intensive Care Unit, CMRI, Dr. Debkamal Mukherjee, Intensivist, Critical Care, CMRI and Dr. Fahd Hossain, Intensivist, Critical Care, CMRI.

The conversation, which was led by Dr. Raja Dhar, Director and Head of the Department of Pulmonology at CMRI, covered a wide range of crucial sepsis subjects, from early detection and treatment guidelines to overcoming typical obstacles in critical care settings. The fact that a distinguished group of medical professionals was there validates CMRI’s contribution to the advancement of medical education.

When the body’s reaction to an infection goes out of control, it can cause sepsis, which spreads widely and frequently results in organ failure or death if left untreated. Because its symptoms, which include confusion, shallow breathing, and lightheadedness, are often confused with those of other disorders, it is a difficult condition to diagnose. When treating sepsis, time is of importance; serious complications can be avoided with prompt detection and management.

The team at CMRI has state-of-the-art tools to handle the most serious cases. CMRI is at the forefront of sepsis care, offering everything from cutting-edge diagnostic equipment to intensive care units built to sustain essential organs.
