Vital Things To Remember On World Heart Day
Heart-Disease

We are reminded of the global burden of cardiovascular disease (CVD), which continues to be the leading cause of death worldwide, on this World Heart Day. This year’s theme, “Use Heart for Action”, highlights the need to adopt heart-healthy habits, raise awareness, and prevent heart disease.

A balanced diet, frequent exercise, and abstaining from tobacco use are all important preventive measures that lower the risk of heart disease. Preventive measures such as routine examinations, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management are essential for early identification and treatment.

On this World Heart Day, Dr. Mrinalendu Das, Senior Consultant Cardiac Surgeon, Narayana Hospital RN Tagore Hospital focused on the vital significance of heart health with the theme “Use Heart for Action”.

The doctor said “Globally, cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death, however, there are numerous risk factors that can be effectively controlled. Everyone is welcome to adopt a heart-healthy lifestyle proactively. Eating a balanced diet high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean meats is one way to do this while reducing your intake of processed foods, sugar, and bad fats. It’s important to get regular exercise. Try to get in at least 150 minutes a week of moderate activity. Steer clear of smoke and drink in moderation. Keep an eye on your cholesterol and blood pressure. Frequent examinations enable early discovery and treatment, which have the potential to save lives. See a doctor right away if you have symptoms like shortness of breath or chest pain. Your heart is important”.

Heart health is being significantly impacted by medical technology improvements as well as lifestyle modifications. Cardiovascular therapies are increasingly incorporating artificial intelligence (AI) to guide life-saving procedures and improve diagnostic accuracy. Artificial intelligence (AI) is assisting in real-time surgical decision-making and medical image analysis, among other tasks, to help minimize problems and enhance patient outcomes.

Dr. Rajat Kar, Consultant Cardiologist Narayana Hospital, Howrah, said, “By improving patient outcomes, treatment planning, and diagnostic accuracy, artificial intelligence is transforming interventional cardiology. Artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms can examine medical imaging, such as echocardiograms and angiography, in the diagnostic process to find minor anomalies that the human eye can overlook. As a result, valvular diseases and coronary artery disease are diagnosed earlier and with greater accuracy. AI provides real-time insights and predictive analytics to support image-guided interventions during procedures. AI systems have the potential to assist interventional cardiologists in difficult cardiac interventions by helping to precisely position stents or guide catheters. By anticipating issues and recommending different courses of action, AI can also maximize procedural efficiency while cutting down on time and enhancing safety. AI also helps with post-procedural care by predicting arrhythmias and other issues by analyzing massive datasets from cardiac devices, like pacemakers and implanted cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs). By tailoring treatment plans based on unique patient information, machine learning algorithms can improve the long-term care of heart disease”.

All things considered, artificial intelligence (AI) in interventional cardiology enhances precision, effectiveness, and results. By automating tedious procedures and offering sophisticated decision support, AI also frees up cardiologists to concentrate more on patient care.

World Heart Day is a potent reminder that we can stop the global rise in CVD and safeguard heart health in the future by practicing prevention, raising awareness, and developing cutting-edge treatments.
