Ruby General Hospital Announces New Steps For Breast Cancer Awareness
Ruby General Hospital organized a press conference to raise awareness of Breast Cancer Awareness.
The press conference was graced by Dr. Sudeshna Lahiri, Deputy Medical Director, Sudeshna Roy, actor and director, Dr. Partha Mukhopadhyay, HOD, Radiotherapy and Oncology, Dr. Sandip Sarkar, Radiation Oncologist, Dr. Abhijit Paul, Medical Director, and others.
Two important announcements were made at this event. The first was the announcement of a Lifetime Breast Cancer Screening Clinic at Ruby General Hospital. It will run seven days a week.
The second announcement was that the first fifty patients of every month in this clinic could get mammograms done free if their doctor advised them to.
Dr. Oindrila Biswas, a Surgical Oncologist, shared preventive tips on breast cancer. She also highlighted the role of surgery in treating breast cancer.
A 17-year-old man from Bangladesh was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma (a kind of bone cancer) of the left upper humerus. He was advised to amputate the limb. However, at Ruby General Hospital, a Limb Salvage Surgery and Megaprosthesis Reconstruction with Expandable Unipolar Custom made Titanium was planned. The patient is now completely fit and recovering well.
Breast cancer survivors graced the event and they shared their precious experiences with the audience.
The main takeaway from the session was that breast cancer can be cured easily if detected early. Regular self-breast examination and annual breast cancer screening mammogram after one turns forty are two ways in which this disease can be detected early.
