Silence of the Womb is a film directed by Soumodeep Ghosh Chowdhury. Some of the director’s earlier works were Feet and Foe, Work in Progress, The Spark, The Open Secret, and others.

The film is about a woman going through Phantom Pregnancy. The plot centers on a couple who have been eager to experience parenting and have come very near to it twice. However, they were never able to achieve the height of their happiness because of unanticipated events. Even though it turned out to be a natural disaster, the man’s guilt is increased when he realizes how many of his own mistakes contributed to the accident. With her persistent prayers and cravings, she becomes pregnant for the third time. However, she does not have a child in her womb this time, as fate would have it written with its most cruel ink. Are they going to accept this call to reality? Or will their world be permanently altered? The film shows how a baby boy can continue the lineage and throws light on the old social infrastructure.
