Kolikata Kalikatha Pays Tribute To The Famous Yellow Taxi
Kolikata Kalikatha is a short film that marks the debut of actor Rezwan Rabbani Sheikh as a director.
The actor-turned-director along with Alexandra Taylor attended the press conference of the film at the 30th Kolkata International Film Festival.
The story of the film is about a young European woman who comes to Kolkata looking for her roots. She is guided by a taxi driver who helps to discover her heritage, make new bonds, and help in deciding her future.
The film has been directed by Rezwan Rabbani Sheikh and Debasis Dutta.
“I came on board as an actor and then after a lot of discussions, I directed the film along with Debasis Dutta. I have done the editing of the film as well. I liked the story of the film very much. The film was initially one hour long. To edit the film and make it 34 minutes was a huge challenge” said Rezwan.
The film is a tribute to the iconic yellow taxi.
“The film resonated with me very much. It shows how a foreign girl comes to Kolkata and experiences it to its fullest. This is what happened to me in real life. I left my home and now I am settled in Kolkata and I also work here. I fell in love with Kolkata the moment I came here. Hence this film has been special for me” said Alexandra.
The music has been composed by Arka Sarkar and Debayan Banerjee.
The short film is 34 minutes long.
