“I will not be making any shows on Feluda anymore. I have fulfilled my long-cherished dream of making Feluda. That was my dream as a 14-year-old boy. The stories that are left to make need more finance as they are all based out of Kolkata. Due to the financial constraints of making web shows in Bengal, I do not think I will be able to do justice to those stories if made into web shows. This is the reason why I will not be venturing into making any more Feluda stories” said director Srijit Mukherji at the trailer launch of Feludar Goyendagiri 2: Bhuswargo Bhoyonkawr.

Also gracing the occasion were Tota Roy Choudhury, Kalpan Mitra, Anirban Chakrabarti, Rajatava Dutta, and Riddhi Sen.

Tota Roy Choudhury was astonished by the sudden news of Srijit not directing any more Feluda shows. “Without Srijit, no one would have thought of casting me as Feluda. That is for sure. I will always be thankful to him for that. However, this news saddens me” said the actor.

The series is adapted from Satyajit Ray’s iconic novel.

Feluda, Topshe, and Jatayu solve a terrifying mystery in the tranquil Kashmiri countryside in this episode of Feludar Goyendagiri, where a retired judge’s previous rulings resurface to cause chaos and murder. When retired judge Siddheshwar Mallick (Rajatava Dutta), troubled by his contentious past, is brutally killed, their trip to the charming towns of Gulmarg, Khilanmarg, and Pahalgam takes a terrible turn. As the story progresses through attempted murders, a lost diamond ring, and secrets from the judge’s tumultuous family past, Feluda’s renowned “mogojastro” (intellect) once more proves to be the crucial element in revealing a convoluted web of deceit, treachery, and retaliation.

Speaking at the event, Rajatava Dutta said “People have grown up reading or watching the Feluda stories and I have grown up acting in them. This is my second visit to Kashmir and my third time acting in a Feluda story. It was a great experience as I got to work with so many friends. It saddens me to know that Srijit will no longer be directing Feluda. However, if the audience makes enough noise, he might make a comeback”.

Riddhi Sen opined that there is a great amount of hard work involved while making such a show. “People think that it is amazing that we got to shoot in Kashmir. However, this is not true. The reality is it is a difficult experience as well. Keeping track of the budget and completing the shoot on time is a difficult job. Another thing that I would like to highlight is that with these web shows, the younger generation will be accustomed to Feluda. They do not read much but watching the shows will be beneficial for them”.

This season recreates some of the most famous moments from the renowned detective’s previous exploits in remembrance of Satyajit Ray’s original Feluda universe. Longtime fans are delighted by these old moments, which also provide timeless charm to new audiences as they mesh perfectly with the current story.

Kalpan Mitra thanked the director for casting him as Topshe. For the young actor, working in this role has been a memorable journey.

Anirban Chakrabarti who plays the much-loved character of Jatayu said “When we all stepped into the shoes of Feluda, Jatayu or Topshe, we very well knew that we will be compared with the legends who have acted in these roles before. But we took this up due to our love for the characters that many of us have grown up reading. To act as Jatayu is a great opportunity for me as an actor”.
